White Russia

The term White Russia is the historical English language name for the part of modern Belarus. Earlier it was applied to Novgorod but by the late 16th century had become a name for the area within the present Belarus.

The name "Belarus" literally translates White Rus' , where Rus' is the old form of Russia.
