Veno Pilon

From TheBestLinks.com

Veno Pilon is a Slovenian expressionist painter, graphic artist and photographer. He was born in Ajdovscina in 1896 (when Ajdovscina was still a part of Austria). After graduating from secondary school in Gorizia, he joined the Austrian army during World War I. He was taken to Russia as a prisoner of war, an experience which he describes in his book Na Robu ("On the Edge"). He returned to Ajdovscina in 1919, where he took up painting.

Some of his paintings (http://www.venopilon.com/en/index30.html) are available on the Pilon Gallery website.

In the late 1920s Pilon moved to Paris where he explored photography. Some of those photos can be seen here: [1] (http://www.venopilon.com/en/index31.html)

He died in 1970 in Ajdovscina.
