I'm a network administrator, but my biggest Wikipedia interest is the articles concerning Christianity and its various expressions. Disclaimer: counting childhood and adulthood both, my own journey has included non-denominational, Lutheran, Assemblies of God, United Methodist, Free Methodist, and Mennonite churches. A few years ago our family joined the Eastern Orthodox Church, and we are now part of the Orthodox Church in America. Naturally, I do my best to present things as neutrally as possible, aiming for historical accuracy and integrity.
Aside from those, my personal pet peeve is Wikipedia articles that use sentence fragments instead of complete sentences. So I enjoy hunting for those, and picking whatever other nits I can find.
Some of my other interests are classical and jazz music, good fantasy and science fiction, family life, and computer science, as I'm a programmer by trade, with a bent towards Open Source. I find I get more out of Wikipedia the more I put in, and think it's a fantastic collaborative effort. The longer I participate, the more I learn, both from reading other contributions and doing more research for my own.
Just ran across the perfect quote to share here. Think about it with regard to POV writing here on Wikipedia.
- He whose will and desire in conversation is to establish his own opinion, even though what he says is true, should recognize that he is sick with the devil's disease. And if he behaves like this only in conversation with his equals, then perhaps the rebuke of his superiors may heal him. But if he acts in this way even with those who are greater and wiser than he, then his malady is humanly incurable.
— The Ladder of Divine Ascent by Saint John Climacus Step 4, paragraph 48.
