I am first and foremost a contributor (since mid-2003 as an anonymous writer), but also a SysOp (since 27 June 2004) on Wikipedia. In real life I'm a 14-year-old computer nerd from Malaysia. I'm half-Chinese and half-Filipino. I came to Wikipedia after discovering it through Google. Although originally contributing anonymously, I eventually registered this account.

About me
I hold strong(and oddly enough, generally fence-sitting) positions on politics and economics, and enjoy debating them. I'm also a proficient user of Linux, and a web developer who works with LAMP. I tend to contribute generally to articles related to computers and Malaysia(partially because of my dislike of the horrible education system and the bumiputra racism). Recently my interests have expanded into old music, notably songs by the Beatles, the Bee Gees and Simon and Garfunkel.
Like I said above, I fencesit on a lot of things, and sometimes trip myself up. For example, my two heroes are Linus Torvalds and Bill Gates, in no particular order. I can just hear the Windows/Linux fanboys taunting me now.
My score on the Are You A Wikipediholic Test is 157 as of September 4 2004. I'm officially addicted. It was notably boosted by my dream of editing Wikipedia on August 7. I think the article in question was something about Elizabeth I; a vandal had added some word with "ch" in it at random intervals in the article. I don't know why I didn't revert it. Gosh, I don't even know why I'm thinking about all this.
Contributions
My favourites
- I wrote much of Education in Malaysia, but this was destroyed by an anon's rewrite (of course, which I don't mind).
- I condensed the History section of the Beatles and moved it to History of the Beatles, earning the Beatles a nod as a Featured Article. It was eventually featured on the main page as well.
- I assisted in getting Coca-Cola featured status (but this was somewhat marred by a short-lived edit war — see Talk:Coca-Cola). The article was featured on the front page on August 27, 2004. I am currently helping move unrelated material to the Coca-Cola Company.
- Okay, here are the Beatles' song articles I've heavily rewritten. Thanks to them, I now know a lot more about the Beatles than I ever thought I would — certainly not when I started work on Yesterday (song). The list is in chronological order:
- I expanded Yesterday (song); half the content there was contributed by me, and the other half was completely reworded by me. It became a featured article on August 16, 2004, its second run at being nominated.
- I created Something (song) from complete scratch and raised it to well above stub level. Thanks to this and Yesterday, I think I (sadly) know far more about the Beatles than I really ever expected to know. On August 21, 2004, it became a featured article.
- I rewrote Hey Jude completely. On August 21, 2004, it became a featured article.
- I rewrote I Want To Hold Your Hand. It is currently on featured article candidates. The first round failed because there was only one vote — a support vote, I should add. I renominated this on September 11, as I did with all of the following songs until Get Back.
- I rewrote She Loves You.
- I rewrote From Me To You.
- I rewrote Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown).
- I rewrote A Day in the Life.
- I rewrote The Long and Winding Road.
- I rewrote Get Back.
Some other notables
Other stuff I do
I'm very involved (or perhaps observant) in how Wikipedia is run; I subscribe to the WikiEN-l mailing list (and read every piece of mail on it, daily). I have WP:FAC, WP:PR, WP:VP, Wikipedia:Today's featured article, Wikipedia:Tomorrow's featured article and Template:Feature on my watchlist, and I make an effort to read and participate in interesting conversations regarding Wikipedia policy.
Although when I requested for sysoping I originally said I would maintain VfD, it's hell out there. Unless you have a lot of time and a lot of energy, take it easy on maintaining VfD. I overworked myself originally, dealing with nominations on WP:VFD/Old like heck, but thanks to that, now I have such an extreme distaste for VfD, I can rarely even bring myself to vote. This has also led to my somewhat high level of Wikistress. There's also a lot of procedure involved in running VfD – contrary to what you might think, it's not just deleting an article and removing the discussion from VfD. Oh, no. You have to link it from the archive, and add notices that the discussion is no longer live to the discussion itself, a rather tiring job if done often, and often thankless as well (but such are the jobs of Wikipedia's unsung heroes – I salute those who are willing to take up this heavy burden).
So, how do I use my sysop powers? Well, I rarely use them, actually. I'm an occasional Recent Changes patroller, and I do speedy delete articles, or rollback vandalism, a much easier job than running the behemoth that is VfD.
Mathematical Solution to "How Many Petals Around the Rose?"
Count the sum of the numbers on each die that is odd, i.e. if the first die is 5, the second die 2, the third die 3, the fourth die six and the last dice two, add 5 and 3. Then subtract from that the total of odd die there are - which is two in our example above. That's the number of petals around the rose.
