In the fictional universe of Warhammer 40,000, the Ultramarines are a chapter of elite superhuman Space Marines loyal to the Imperium of Man. In the current date of the Warhammer 40,000 setting, the Ultramarines are considered to be the greatest of all Space Marine chapters due to their unshakable loyalty, strict adherence to the Codex Astartes, and their great victories, most notably against the Tyranids.
Founding
The Ultramarines were one of the original Space Marine Legions founded by the Emperor, more than ten millennia before the current date of the setting. They were the 13th Legion to be founded and their Primarch is Roboute Guilliman. The Ultramarines are headquartered on the planet Macragge and control a vast fiefdom within the Imperium known as the Realm of Ultramar.
Heraldry
Ultramarine armor is predominantly blue (i.e, ultramarine) with other colors used to differentiate membership in battle companies and veteran status.
