Uberhack (or Überhack) is a modification package for the computer game Total Annihilation.

Version 4.0

The latest version (4.0) incorporates other third-party modification packages, a custom installer, and a switcher utility to allow for minute gameplay differentiations by the player.

The original Total Annihilation with Core Contingency expansion and the latest patch (3.1) is a prerequisite for installing Uberhack.

What Uberhack Does

What Uberhack does is tweaking and editing nearly every aspect of the game. Apart from including all the official released extra units from the Cavedog homepage and fixing various never fixed bugs, Uberhack create some new units from scratch. The familiar old units get all changed, sometimes resulting in only minor tweaks like increased armor value, sometimes resulting in a radical role redefinition.

The most frustrating change for newcomers to the Uberhack mod is maybe the rule that Missile Defense Towers only work against aircraft and not against air and ground targets as in original Total Annihilation. On the positive side, those towers are now buildable by the commander.

The general idea behind all the changes was to have every unit worth building and to have no usless units at all. The result is that Uberhack is one of the finest modpacks available in the gaming world, enhancing an outstanding game even more.
