Toad (comics)

From TheBestLinks.com

Toad (real name Mortimer Toynbee or, on X-Men Evolution, Todd Tolansky) is a supervillain appearing in X-Men comic books published by Marvel Comics. He is a mutant, with the ability to extend his tongue great distances and ensnare objects and people. He has superhuman strength in his legs, giving him the ability to make long leaps, and is quite agile (but not particularly dextrous). He is also known to have a strong stench on him, as he showers rarely and may secrete unusual chemicals; in the comics he suffers from a neurological chemical imbalance, and in the movie, he is able to spit a caustic phlegmatic substance.

The Toad was first seen as a member of Magneto's original Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. He was Magneto's sycophantic toady, and was obsessed with his then-teammate, the Scarlet Witch, leading to a continuing enemity with her and her brother, Quicksilver. He remained with the Brotherhood through several of its later incarnations, becoming its leader at a point later in his career when his self-esteem had risen.

Toad also appeared as a character in the 2000 movie X-Men, played by Ray Park, and in the X-Men: Evolution cartoon; in both, he was also a member of the Brotherhood, though in the latter he is a former classmate of the X-Men.
