From TheBestLinks.com

(Redirected from Teesside Airport)

Teeside International Airport is located six miles east of Darlington, in North East England. It is one of the UK's smaller airports and is mainly used for chartered flights, although there are some scheduled flights available. The airport is owned by a consortium of local authorities and Peel Holdings PLC.

Previously Teeside International Airport was a RAF base, RAF Middleton-St-George which housed Lancaster bombers. In 1963, the airfield was closed and sold to Cleveland County Council who developed the site into a commerical airport. Queen Margaritha of Sweden opened the international passenger terminal in 1966. The airport has since been developed as a regional airport for the North East of England, and has expanded successfuly ever since.
