The superior vena cava (also known as the anterior vena cava) is formed by the union of the left and right brachiocephalic veins (the innominate veins) and terminates in the right atrium of the heart. It drains the superior part of the body and is one of the two largest veins in the body, the other being the inferior vena cava.
