Shogun: Total War is the first of Creative Assemblys Total War series, It is a strategy computer game that combines Turn based Management (City Building, Politics and Espionage) and Real Time battles. The player assumes the role of one of eight Daimyo (Warlords) attempting to unite feudal Japan during the Sengoku period (The age of the Country at war). Sun Tzus "The Art of War" is central to the game, quoted often, and it's strategies recomended.
It was followed by an add on "Shogun: Total War - Warlord Edition" which added a Mongol invasion campaign (played as either the Invasion or the ruler of Japan)and two sequels, Medieval: Total War and Rome: Total War.
