Screaming Fist was a military operation in William Gibson's novel Neuromancer.
The main 'boss' character, Corto, takes part in the operation, in which the first real virus and a prototype 'deck' was loaded onto a 'nightwing' glider. They are shot down when EMPs hit. Corto is the sole survivor of the operation, escaping to Finland.
The AI Wintermute speaks to Corto through a bedside computer during his hospitalization. Over a long period, Corto is convinced that he is actually Armitage, a wealthy businessman. Wintermute uses this puppet to capture Case and Molly to help him merge with his twin AI, Neuromancer.
