Satoshi Tajiri

From TheBestLinks.com

Satoshi Tajiri (田尻 智 Tajiri Satoshi) (Born August 28 1965) is the creator of Pokémon.

When he was young, he loved to collect insects and trade them with other insect-collecting friends. Sometimes, they would enjoy watching the insects they had captured fight against one another. Satoshi also loved to play video games and liked watching Japanese monster movies.

When he grew up, Mr. Tajiri combined his three childhood passions and started creating his Pocket Monsters (Pokémon for short) with Creatures Inc (which he founded) and started producing the video games with the Game Freak company.

The Pokemon anime character Ash Ketchum in Japan is named "Satoshi", after him, in the original Japanese, and the rival, Gary Oak, is called "Shigeru" in Japan, after his friend Shigeru Miyamoto.
