From TheBestLinks.com

Sakastan (Sakastan) meaning Land of Sakas. The name Sakastan has been mentioned in both Medes book of Bishtun and Parthians, this was the land where the European scythians came from. Dating back 1000 BCE and by 800 BCE they were noticed by Medes as a tribes coming from East, later it was mentioned by Assyrians. It was these Sakas who first made a treaty with Assyrians and then later sided Medes and as a result Medes took control of Western Iran and made Pars as their strongest hold. Its known that Many Sakas came back to their original land Sakastan however later just 100 years before rise of Alexander the great they have been said to rule south of Ukraine and their kingdom may have included Georgia. Their ancestries are said to be the current Ossetic speakers, and influence over Slavic clearly marks signs of Awestan influence.
