Straightfront corset

From TheBestLinks.com

(Redirected from S-shape corset)
Corset by straightfront in Louis XV style, from 1911
The Straightfront Corset was a corset type in use from ca. 1901-18. Originally intended to create less health problems and to be less constricting than previous types, it soon took on an extreme shape, forcing the wearer to lean forward, and emphasising the posterior.

The distinguishing features of this type of corset are the rigid straight front and the heavy use of gussets and curved seams, leading to the famous S-curve. It also tended to reach further down the hips than previous designs.

Straightfront corsets have a extreme big loin curve, which creates waddling, and a round back and neck, resulting in poor breathing. 1903
