Scryed (スクライド, sometimes s.CRY.ed or s-CRY-ed) is a 26 episode anime tv series that is very similar to The X-Men. There is also a manga adaptation. The manga is published in English by TokyoPop.

It is set in the near future, when people start developing special abilities that are dubbed "Alters" because the "Alter users" are able to alter matter around them into a specific object or thing. The powers that these people possess gives them superiority over normal humans. While the setting resembles X-Men, both the plot and characters are different.

Naturally, there are two opposing forces of alters: the Native Alters, a group of alter users whom live outside the central city and avoid any relationships with the government; and HOLY, a secret organization of Alter users that are a subgroup of an organization called HOLD. HOLD and HOLY are basically used as Alter police, capturing Native Alters that they find on the Lost grounds.

Kazuma "Treasoner" Torisuma and Ryuhou are the two Scryed characters that have a rivalry. They spend the entire series trying to defeat each other. Even if they are fighting on the same side, they still remember their bitter rivalry.

Also, there is a narrator, Kanami. Kanami is Kazuma's sister-type friend whom Kazuma protects. She narrates the series by telling what happened in her dreams, which coincides and relates to the story.
