Money units that are compared during different time periods that hold inflation constant are called real dollars. For example, if the cost of a movie ticket remained at two dollars during the time period from 1981 - 1982 even though purchasing power of money declined by ten percent during that time period due to inflation, then the cost of a movie ticket in real dollars during that time period declined by ten percent.
