Raffles Junior College (RJC for short, or commonly known among Rafflesians as RJ) is a premier co-educational government junior college in Singapore offering a two-year course for students. It is located in Ghim Moh. It appears as the top in ranking for most years, until the ranking of junior colleges was discontinued from 2004. However, at least 95% of graduates attend university.
Affliation
RJC is affliated with Raffles Institution and Raffles Girls' School (Secondary). It shares the anthem and the school crest with the former. Its intake for 2001 consists of close to a third from RI and a quarter from RGS. Still, the backgrounds of students are generally diverse.
However, it is currently involved in the Raffles Programme, the schools' name for the Integrated Programme, so the intake from RI and RGS are expected to rise, when the first batch of RP students enter RJC in 2006.
History
RJC was formed in 1982 to provide Pre-University classes which was discontinued in RI. Since then, it has been excelling in academic and non-academic fields, developing "fine traditions and excellent spirit" which is termed the Rafflesian Spirit.
