Nontrinitarian or antitrinitarian beliefs concerning God declare that God is not a Trinity.
These terms have no meaning except in contrast to the Christian doctrine of God as agreed upon by six of the seven ecumenical councils of Catholicism and Eastern Orthodoxy. As such, these terms do not positively describe the views of those who hold them, but rather distinguish the view from the understanding of God which has been traditionally associated with Christianity.
Many Christians regard nontrinitarians as non-Christians, especially if they deny the divinity of Jesus. Usually the argument is that denying the trinity necessarily denies the divinity of Jesus.
