Sagittarius Star Cloud

From TheBestLinks.com

(Redirected from M24)

The Sagittarius Star Cloud (also known as Delle Caustiche, Milky Way Patch M24, Star Cloud M24, Messier Object 24, IC 4715, or NGC 6603) is a star cloud in the Sagittarius constellation. It was discovered by Charles Messier in 1764. M24 is not considered a deep sky object, as it is a huge star cloud in the Milky Way Galaxy. The stars, clusters and other objects of M24 form a portion of a spiral arm (the Sagittarius or Sagittarius-Carina Arm) which fills a space of significant depth, at a distance of 10,000 to 16,000 light-years.
