Joe can have several meanings:

• Joe is a nickname for coffee. The nickname is derived from the name of Secretary of the Navy Josephus Daniels, who in 1913 banned alcohol from being served on U.S. Navy warships. The sailors began to drink more coffee, which they then nicknamed "Joe."

• Joe is also used, mostly in the United States, as a common placeholder name for a person, such as "your average Joe" or "Joe sixpack".

• Joe is also a text editor for Unix.

• Joe is a common male name, normally being a shortened form of Joseph.

• Joe is the stage name for US r&b singer Joe Thomas best known for his 2000 album My Name is Joe featuring the #1 hit in the US "Stutter".

• Joe is the main charactor of the video game Viewtiful Joe
