James Daly was an American actor born October 23, 1918 in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. He is best known for his portrayal as “Doctor Honorious” in the original Planet of the Apes. From 1947 to 1966, he also guest starred in several television series, among them Star Trek (Requiem for Methuselah), Mission Impossible, Gunsmoke, The Virginian, and Twelve O'Clock High.

James Daly’s last screen feature was as “Mr. Boyce”, a character in the mini-series Roots: The Next Generations. James Daly died shortly after the appearance, and before the mini-series was ever released.

His date of death was July 3, 1978, in Nyack, New York.
