Higher School Certificate

From TheBestLinks.com

The Higher School Certificate, or HSC for short, is the final examination in secondary school education in New South Wales, Australia.

It is administered by the Board of Studies, and it is used as an aid to calculate the University Admissions Index (UAI) - which is calculated by the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC), for controlling university admissions.

Unfortunately, it is perceived that many people place great pressure on the students to perform well in the HSC. It is believed by the students thus that the HSC is an extremely important examination, causing stress in some cases, and even worse psychological strain.

British HSC

The same name was also used for the examination formerly serving a similar purpose in England,Wales, and Northern Ireland. The British HSC was established in 1917 and replaced by the A-level in 1951.
