Haugesund

From TheBestLinks.com

The town Haugesund in the county of Rogaland, Norway, has 31,013 inhabitants as of January 1, 2003. It was founded in 1854, but was a centre of power at least as early as the Viking Age. Some historians argue that the first king of Norway, Harald the Hairfair, came from Avaldsnes just outside Haugesund. The town is situated at a stategically important sound through which ships could pass without heavy sea.
