gMax is 3D modeling software that allows players to modify objects within 3D computer games for certain games which have the option.
gMax can be expanded by "game packs" which feature exporting options for several games. gMax, being a 3d modelling program, does -- however -- come without a rendering engine. This permits scenes to be rendered into a picture. However, Maxis were the first to write a dedicated (yet somehow slow) renderer for their gMax gamepack for SimCity 4.
