The Emme is a river in Switzerland. It rises in the area between Hohgant and Augstmatthorn in the Canton of Bern. The Emmental flows through and flows 80 km long Emme below Solothurn into the Aare. The drainage area is 983 km². The middle drainage is with the delta approximately 20 m³/s. the maximum drainage amounts to up to 500 m ³/s.

The narration Die Wassernot im Emmental (The Water Shortage in the Emmental) of Jeremias Gotthelf describes very impressive the largest well-known flood from August 13, 1837. The tributaries of the Emme are the Ilfis and the Limpach.
