box cover of Crazy Taxi for the Dreamcast

Crazy Taxi is a series of Sega video games, developed by Hitmaker, which was first released in arcades in 1999. In 2000, after the success of the Crazy Taxi arcade machines, Sega released the game on their new console, the Dreamcast. The game was later ported to the Playstation 2, Gamecube, Game Boy Advance and PC.

The object of the game is to pick up passengers and transport them to their chosen destination in the shortest possible time (with consequent violations of traffic law being a side effect). Time bonuses are given for a speedy delivery, and you are tipped for stunts (such as the "Crazy Drift").

There are 4 different drivers, each with their own taxis and skills. These are:

  • Axel
  • B. D. Joe
  • Gena
  • Gus

The console versions include an unlocakable pedal taxi, a new city and mini-games.
