The second Battle of Copenhagen, which lasted from 16 August to 5 September 1807, was, like the first battle of Copenhagen, an attack by the British on the Danish capital of Copenhagen. After a combined siege by 18,000 British and Hannoverian troops under General Lord Cathcart, and a naval bombardment by a fleet under Admiral James Gambier, the regent Crown Prince Frederick
surrendered the Danish fleet of 18 ships, upon which the British withdrew.
