Battle of Cannington

From TheBestLinks.com

The Battle of Cannington, in 878 AD, took place at the fort of Cynwit, now recognised as being on Cannington Hill, near Bridgwater in Somerset, England.

In a major engagement, a party of vikings who had landed on the coast at Combwich were defeated by troops lead by Odda. The Danish attacks were finally ended a few months later by their defeat at the hands of Alfred the Great during the Battle of Edington.
