Aquamarine is gemstone-quality blue beryl, closely related to the emerald. Aquamarines can be found in the United States in Colorado at the summit of Mt. Antero in the Collegiate Range in central Colorado. In Brazil, there are mines in the states of Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo and Bahia.
The biggest aquamarine ever mined was found at the city of Marambaia, Minas Gerais. It weighted over 110 kg, and its dimensions were 48.5 cm long and 42 cm in diameter.
Aquamarine is the birthstone associated with March.

Aquamarine is also the unusual heraldic tincture of the Jewish Autonomous Region in Russia; it is shown as a kind of dark green.
