Ai Iijima (Iijima Ai, 飯島愛, birth name Ishii Mitsuko, 石井光子) (born 25 August 1972) is a Japanese media personality. In her late teens, she appeared on late night television as a T-back (bikini) girl. Her stage name was chosen as a result of a fan survey. She later became an adult video star and finally crossed over into main stream television variety shows. She is now an established "tarento" (i.e. professional media personality) on Japanese television, appearing in travel, lifestyle, and quiz shows.
In 2000 she published Platonic Sex, about a young girl leaving home to escape her parents and ending up as an adult movie star. The book is largely seen as disguised autobiography, and is an example of a particular Japanese style called fikushon (from the English word "fiction") which interweaves fiction and real events. The book was turned into a television series and a theatrical movie.
