Achilles tendinitis

From TheBestLinks.com

Achilles tendinitis is inflammation of the Achilles tendon. It is generally precipitated by overuse of the affected limb. It should not be confused with xanthoma of the tendon, which is the accumulation of cholesterol in patients with familial hypercholesterolemia.

Management is with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Patients are advised to put as little strain on the limb as possible, as inflammation increases the risk of Achilles tendon rupture.
