AccuRev

From TheBestLinks.com

AccuRev is a relatively new software tool for revision control (configuration management, SCM etc) of source code and other software development assets. Developed by some of the original creators of ClearCase, one of its competing products, AccuRev boasts a new approach to SCM. One of the key features of AccuRev is a "stream browser" which provides a graphical view of the branching strategy. Using this browser, the user can quickly and easily change branching structure or project topology.

AccuRev is one of the few SCM tools to truly support TaskBasedDevelopment. In addition, it integrates an issue-tracking system called Dispatch, and can associate checkin transactions with issues, and can provide a higher-level issue-based view of changes and history.

Key features

  • Append-only database: AccuRev's proprietary "TimeSafe" database is append-only and therefore basically impossible to corrupt. It is trivial to backup and restore, and can even be backed up live.
  • Atomic transactions: Checkins occur in groups or transactions; a set of files is either checked in all together or not at all.
  • Filename and directory tracking: Renaming and moving files and directories is tracked by the system.
